Opportunity
This proposal introduces the development of a valuable property available adjacent to the St. Croix Valley Recreation Center. Requests from the stakeholders using the center suggested what would make the center even better and the expansion concept developed. Many amenities and updates were listed and became the background for coordinating with the SCCC group, also looking for advancing their arena curling concept into a dedicated curling facility.
The resulting project maximizes the total area available to bring all of the directives together in one futuristic footprint. A congested entry way and parking areas are addressed with additional entries and two additional parking lots.
Lockers and related facilities are in short supply as well as storage and peripheral activity areas. A major request surfaced for food and beverage service. With a large membership projected at 1000 + from the curling community, a cooperativeventure with the Rec Center is ideal to support a modern food/beverage service with offerings for all participants using the Rec Center Expansion.
East Metro and Beyond
This is a large undertaking and requires the support of the entire community. Considering the East Metro does not have a dedicated curling facility and the existing Rec Center has identified many upgrades and space requests we believe it is well worth the effort.
We are requesting state bonding consideration and are on the list for the next round of funding.
We are ready to go out and determine the funding potential for such a community wide effort.
